After graduating from The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff with a bachelor’s degree in communications Joi Dai moved back to her hometown of Saint Louis, MO. In hopes of putting her newly found skills to work, Joi accepted her first unpaid job at a local radio station WESL PRAIZZE 1490 and things seemed to be looking up. Unpaid doesn’t mean unnecessary and the experience and connections would be worth it.

     During the ten months Joi worked at WESL she also worked part-time at a daycare and spent hours applying for her dream job as a reporter. One “NO” after the other, with less than 5 years of experience and only two internships under her belt, Joi had to make a decision to wait for others to believe in her or believe in herself.
